Tuesday Febuary 10, 2009 POSITIVE MOTIVATION! ratiopharm Ulm head coach Mike Taylor delivered a motivational talk to students at the Neu Ulm University Tuesday afternoon in Neu Ulm. Speaking before students at a university lecture hall for just over an hour, the talk defined motivation, examined motivation from both leadership and learner perspectives and compared motivational techniques for students in class and players on basketball teams. Using specific examples from experiences working in basketball and the Bundesliga, the motivational talk was aimed at helping students and teachers at the Neu Ulm University maximize their abilities and opportunities within and outside the classroom. Presenting the positive motivational message, a power point presentation featuring information in both English and German made it easy for everyone to understand and follow along. The heart of the discussion focused on the philosophy of 'Fun with Discipline' which has helped ratiopharm Ulm to on-court success. After the presentation, students engaged in a lengthy question and answer session that ranged from specific aspects of motivating people to questions about the ratiopharm Ulm basketball season and a few personal points. Among those attending the motivational speach included former ratiopharm Ulm guard Christian Grosse who is finishing his studies at the school. Making appearances and presentations mostly for businesses in and around Ulm or sponsors for ratiopharm Ulm basketball, Tuesdays talk at Neu Ulm University certainly made a positive impact.
