Friday September 3rd, 2010 ratiopharm Ulm Looks to Kirchheim Tournament!
ratiopharm Ulm returns to preseason action this weekend in the Kirchheim Tournament Saturday and Sunday in Kirchheim Germany. Saturday afternoon 4pm, ratiopharm Ulm tips off against the host Knights in game one of the double header before EnBW Ludwigsburg face Saar-Pfalz Braves in game two at 7pm. Near to Stuttgart in southwest Germany, Kirchheim is the Pro A farm team for Bundesliga Ludwigsburg.
ratiopharm Ulm looks forward to their next preseason challenges in the Kirchheim Tournament this weekend! After opening their exhibition schedule with a Wednesday night win in Crailsheim, ratiopharm Ulm is excited for their next challenges together as the new team continues to develop. Ulm's roster remains shorthanded going into the Kirchheim Tournament as Sebastian Betz and Michael Wenzl continue to rehab minor leg injuries while German National team players Per Gunther and Robin Benzing have yet to rejoin the team. Next week, the injured Betz and Wenzl will return to practice while Gunther and Benzing are also expected to return to the team after some rest time.

ratiopharm Ulm post player Sean Sonderleiter. ratiopharm Ulm new players performed well in their debut Wednesday night in Crailsheim as point guard Travis Walton, wing Walt Baxley along with front court players Sean Sonderleiter and John Bryant donned the Ulm orange and black for the first time. Only Baxley has previous experience playing in Germany after starring for the Saar Pfalz Braves in the Pro A last season. For Walton, Sonderleiter and Bryant, preseason action is important for the players to learn the Ulm system and gain experience with the European and German style of play.

KIRCHHEIM TOURNAMENT 2010-2011 Kirchheim Knights preseason scouting report: ratiopharm Ulm plays host Kirchheim Knights in Saturdays tournament opener and Head coach Frenkie Ignjatovic features a roster with experienced players such as Radi Tomasevic, Cedric Brooks, Ryan DeMichael, Sebastian Adeberg, Nils Menck and Gordon Scott. Joining the Kirchheim team on tryout from EnBW Ludwigsburg is 6'11'' C Justin Neuhaus a big rookie from Colorado Christian. The Knights finished the 2009-2010 season 19-11 ranked fifth. Ulm fans will remember Radi Tomasevic from his 2.Bundesliga South days starring for Tubingen. Gordon Scott (Ludwigsburg) and Ryan DeMichael (Nurnberg, Tubingen) also faced ratiopharm Ulm with previous Bundesliga opponents. Point guard Cedric Brooks played with Nordlingen but was also recruited to Pittsburg State in Kansas by Ulm head coach Mike Taylor while serving as top assistant for the Gorillas in 2000-2001. click here for Kirchheim Knights on Eurobasket Saar-Pfalz Braves preseason scouting report: Saar-Pfalz Braves, the former team for current wing Walt Baxley, have a roster including experienced players Mirko Damjanovic, Carl Mbassa, Michael Buse, Robert Ohele, Robert Cardenas and Theo Tarver while the team added Americans Rob Lowery from Dayton and Jason Jammerson. Led by head coach Nenad Josipovic, the Braves finished third in the Pro A with a 22-8 record. Formerly known as Kaiserslautern, the basketball tradition with Saar Pfalz is strong and manager/former coach Stephan Seile returned to help rebuild the organization. ratiopharm Ulm has recruited strongly from former Braves players as point guard Austen Rowland, wing Keith Triplett and now Walt Baxley have all played with the Braves in Pro A or 2.Bundesliga before stepping up with ratiopharm Ulm to the BBL. click here for Saar-Pfalz Braves on Eurobasket EnBW Ludwigsburg preseason scouting report: EnBW Ludwigsburg has a new look for 2010-2011 with new head coach Markus Jochum. It marks the third consecutive season with a new head coach for EnBW Ludwigsburg as Jochum follows former coaches Rick Stafford and Tolga Ongoran. Returning to Ludwigsburg is former Bundesliga MVP point guard Jerry Green. Along with Green's return, Ludwigsburg has added big name talent Toby Bailey, Donatas Zavackas and John Bowler along with Keith Cochran and German forward Johannes Lischka. Young German players David McCray, Ziyed Chennoufi and Tim Koch will also be in the mix for the new look Ludwigsburg team. Last season, Ludwigsburg swept both Derby games against ratiopharm Ulm.
