A uniquely gifted athlete, Jeff Gibbs joins ratiopharm Ulm for the 2005-2006 season after leading the 2.Bundesliga South in rebounding last year playing for local rival Humana Ehingen. An undersized 6'5 power forward with 7 foot wing span, Jeff has enjoyed tremendous success in several sports throughout his athletic career. Last season in Ehingen, Gibbs averaged 12.8 rebounds per game while scoring 21ppg for the young Steeples. Jeff produced some amazing games including a 29pt 22reb barrage against MTV Kronberg with Ehingen needing a win to stay in the league. The former Otterbein College dual sport-star brings a physical presence to the paint on both ends of the floor. An All American Tight end and kick returner in football, Gibbs had NFL tryouts with the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals and remains a huge football fan. While playing basketball with the Cardinals, Gibbs led his team to the NCAA division III national title and was named to the All American team on the hardwood as well. In Ulm, Gibbs has established himself as a force to be reckoned with. Jeff has led ratiopharm Ulm in rebounding 5 of the 10 exhibition games this preseason and fit in extremely well with his new teammates. Jeff's power moves in the paint are fantastic for a player his size and his versatile ability to play inside and outside makes him a difficult matchup for opponents. A ballskilled undersized forward in the "Charles Barkley" mold, Gibbs has excellent hands and is a tremendous passer. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Jeff and his wife April have a 1 year old son Trey. During the summers, Jeff has participated in the always competitive Kentucky Pro-am in Owensboro Kentucky for the Columbus Ohio based "Ten Deep" team. Sure to be a fan favorite for ratiopharm Ulm, Jeff Gibbs brings his unique talent and athleticism to his new home and will without question be an integral part of Ulm's success this season.
