ratiopharm Ulm visits Nordlingen Saturday! With excitement and enthusiasm, ratiopharm Ulm has enjoyed a terrific first week of practices after opening the 2007-2008 preseason earlier this week. Part of the packed first full week together, Ulm unveiled their team before over 400 basketball-hungry fans in a public practice Monday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg. Tuesday evening, the ratiopharm Ulm team was introduced to fans and sponsors in a special social setting at the Ulmer Stadthause. Part of the extravogant white-collar affair was the teams exciting entrance upon Ulmer Firetrucks amid flashing blue lights, sirens and fireworks. Wednesday, the busy schedule continued with two practices followed by official team pictures at night. Thursday, the team completed two practices before a single training session Friday all building up toward Saturday's exhibition game in Nordlingen. ON THE BALL!! Tipping off preseason schedule Saturday night, ratiopharm Ulm will make their debut against the Pro A Nordlingen who remain Ulm's co-operating partner club this season --- the positive relationship between the two teams has opened the doors for opportunities for many players especially at the youth levels. Traveling just over one hour north into Bavaria, ratiopharm Ulm players will be pleased to compete against different color uniforms for the first time this preseason. A weeks worth of skillwork, conditioning and scrimmages complete, Ulm's four new players Sean Finn, Kyle Bailey, Dru Joyce and Sebastian Betz will see their first action with their new team this weekend. All four have integrated well to Ulm and made significant progress throughout the first week of practice.
HUDDLE UP! ratiopharm Ulm has enjoyed a productive first week of practice. Saturday's preseason opener tips off ratiopharm Ulm's 12 game preseason schedule as the team prepares for the October 6th Bundesliga season opener at Volkswagonhalle in Braunschweig. Ulm point guards Dru Joyce and Kyle Bailey have made a positive impact in the teams first week together. Ulm's opponent Saturday night, Nordlingen has assembled a solid roster including 2.Bundesliga South veterans Ty Shaw, Ali Kazarnovsky, Joe Tesfaldet, Mario Matic and Waldimar Buchmiller. New Import players LaShon Sheffield and Osvaldo Jeanty and young German talents such as Dima Rastatter and Jasper Knoch provide new Head Coach Andreas Wagner a talented team for the basketball tradition-rich small north-Bavarian town. Nordlingen's team will be without their important power forward Shaw for Saturday's game as he completes playoffs with a team in Australlia before joining Nordlingen next week. On the Ulm side, Captain Emeka Erege is likely to be a gametime decision after missing early practices this week resting a slight muscle strain.
